Annabel Bogue from Our Lady’s Secondary School Crowned National Champion in Careers Portal Competition
Annabel Bogue, a Fifth Year student from Our Lady’s Secondary School in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, has earned the prestigious title of 1st place in the Leaving Cert Category at the AIB Future Sparks Career Skills Competition by Careers Portal. Annabel’s outstanding achievement was celebrated at an award ceremony held in the Department of Education in Dublin on May 8th.
This nationwide competition, organized by Careers Portal, served as a platform for secondary school students to delve into the dynamic world of career exploration. With over 200 career options to explore, students were tasked with showcasing their understanding of essential career skills and their application in various professions. Close to 1500 students participated in this year's event, demonstrating an overwhelming interest in fostering their career development. From this pool of talent, 33 winners emerged, each standing out for their exemplary research and presentation skills across a diverse array of occupations.
Annabel’s journey to success in this competition was marked by her excellent research skills and in depth of knowledge on a career in medicine. Reflecting on Annabel’s remarkable accomplishment, the Principal of Our Lady’s Secondary School Mr. Kelly remarked, “Annabel’s success is a testament to her hard work, determination and excellent research skills. We are immensely proud of Annabel’s dedication and congratulate her on this fantastic achievement. This year Annabel has achieved success in public speaking competitions, careers skills competitions and essay writing competitions and this is a testament to her ability, focus, drive and ambition.’
