Our Lady’s Student Celebrates National Success at Texaco Children’s Art Competition

Emily McMahon from Our Lady’s Secondary School, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, is celebrating national recognition after achieving success in one of Ireland’s most celebrated youth art competitions. Emily McMahon has been awarded a Special Merit Award in Category G at the 72nd Texaco Children’s Art Competition for her striking piece entitled “Lino of Me.”
The Texaco Children’s Art Competition, now in its 72nd year, is widely regarded as one of the most important platforms for young artistic talent across Ireland. Emily’s achievement reflects not only her creativity and dedication, but also the support and encouragement shown by her Art teacher, Ms. Mc Cabe. Emily has been invited to attend the official awards ceremony, which will take place at the Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort in Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow, on Wednesday, 27th May 2026. The event will bring together winners from across the country to celebrate their artistic accomplishments.
School Principal, Mr. Kelly praised Emily’s achievement and acknowledged the important role played by her teacher“We are incredibly proud of Emily and this fantastic achievement. Her creativity and commitment to her art have truly shone through.
