Éanna Named Student of the Year at Our Lady’s

In a proud celebration of student leadership, achievement, and the enduring legacy of Mr. Gerald F. Gillanders, Sixth Year student Éanna Curran has been awarded the prestigious Gerald F. Gillanders Student of the Year Award for 2025. Now in its 40th year, this distinguished award recognises students who exemplify leadership, compassion, and dedication within the Our Lady’s school community.

The award ceremony, which took place on May 14th, was attended by students, staff, and members of the Board of Management. It commemorates Mr. Gillanders, who served as Deputy Principal of Our Lady’s until his untimely passing in 1984.

During the event, Principal Mr. Eddie Kelly praised Éanna’s outstanding character and his positive influence on the school. “Éanna is an exceptional young person and a true role model for his peers and younger students,” Mr. Kelly said. “ Éanna has been actively involved in a wide range of school activities, from academic excellence, student leadership to extracurricular activities, always leading with integrity and kindness. His willingness to support others and contribute to a positive school culture has made a lasting impact on students and staff alike.’’ Mr. Kelly also acknowledged the other eight nominees, thanking them for their significant contributions to the school over the past six years. He expressed immense pride in Éanna and the entire Leaving Certificate class 2025 as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives.
