Our Lady’s Secondary School has once again showcased its excellence in Gaelic Games, as Senior Girls GAA player Ellie Flanagan has been selected for the prestigious Ulster Ladies All Star team for 2025. This outstanding honour brings the school’s total number of Ladies All Star Awards to 33 in just 13 years, a remarkable record and a source of immense pride for the entire school community.

Ellie was among six students from the school who took part in the initial trials, which featured over 130 talented players from across Ulster. Her performances impressed the selectors, earning her an invitation to the final trial in Cookstown, where she competed against 60 of the province’s top players. The school was delighted when it was confirmed that Ellie had secured her place on this year’s Ulster Ladies Colleges All Star team. Principal Mr. Kelly, praised Ellie’s achievement and her contribution to sport within the school:

“Ellie’s selection as an Ulster Colleges All Star is a tremendous achievement and very well deserved. She is an exceptional ambassador for Gaelic Games in Our Lady’s. As well as her talent and work rate, Ellie embodies the leadership, commitment and team spirit we value so highly. She plays with the O’Neill Shamrocks club, has represented Monaghan at various underage levels, was a key figure in our school team that won the Ulster and All-Ireland A titles in 2024, and now serves proudly as captain of our school team this year. We are immensely proud of her.” Mr. Kelly also acknowledged the dedication of the coaching team: “Our coaches play a central role in nurturing talent and maintaining the high standards we set in school football. The commitment and dedication shown by Mr. Graham & Ms. Kerr, and all of our GAA coaches ensures that our players continue to thrive and succeed.”

Our Lady’s Secondary School continues to set the bar in Gaelic Games, with all girls’ teams now competing at A level across every competition. The school’s growing list of All Star winners, now 33 since 2012 is a testament to the dedication of its coaching staff and the exceptional talent and determination of its students.
