International Basketball recognition for Our Lady’s student Katie Glynn

Congratulations to Fifth Year student Katie Glynn who was selected for the Basketball Ireland U/17 Women’s National Team Academy programme. This programme will serve as a bridge to the U18 squad and will give players the chance to experience coaching and practice at a high level and to remain engaged with the Basketball Ireland pathway. Katie who is now playing her basketball with the Killester Basketball Club in Dublin was selected for this academy programme after a series of trials involving players from different parts of the country. Speaking at the school during the week the Principal Mr Kelly congratulated Katie on this wonderful achievement ‘ Katie has a wonderful interest in and natural talent for basketball and she has displayed this on numerous occasions for various school teams. I am delighted that this skill and ability has been recognised and given the opportunity to develop and improve at such an elite level. We wish Katie well with her training programme over the coming months, we are proud that Katie is adding to the wonderful tradition of basketball that we have in our school and Katie is the latest in a long line of players from our school who have represented Ireland. I would also like to acknowledge the great work of a core group of teachers who do fantastic work in coaching and promoting basketball in our school’
