On Thursday, May 15th, Our Lady’s Secondary School community came together to celebrate the exceptional achievements of their students during their annual Awards Night. This event recognised not only the academic and altruistic accomplishments of the students but also showcased an impressive array of silverware to be presented. Principal Eddie Kelly and Deputy Principals Jane Treanor and Darren Bishop had the honour of presenting the awards.
In his opening remarks, Principal Eddie Kelly praised the students for their remarkable successes and active participation in a diverse range of activities inside and outside the classroom. He highlighted that the evening's celebration was not solely about school achievements. "Our students participate and compete at county, provincial, and national levels, achieving great success. It is not only the victories that we recognise but also the manner of their participation. The hallmark of students from Our Lady’s at all these stages is their courtesy, consideration, and basic good manners. Above all else, I commend all students who contributed to our school this academic year. Their successes, both individual and team, will be recognised as the ceremony continues."
Mr. Kelly also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the many individuals involved in organising the evening, including sponsors, parents, staff, and students, whose efforts made the awards night possible. He emphasised that the ambition, hard work, and diligence of the wider school community, including those not on stage, equally deserved recognition. Their contributions and relentless pursuit of excellence reflect the strength and spirit of Our Lady’s.
The wide range of awards presented on the night mirrored the breadth and depth of the students' successes and achievements. The many and varied programmes and opportunities available at Our Lady’s were well represented, highlighting the comprehensive and supportive environment that encourages every student to excel.
