Annie Carroll Named Student of the Year at Our Lady’s

In a proud celebration of student leadership, achievement, and the enduring legacy of Mr. Gerald F. Gillanders, Sixth Year student Annie Carroll has been awarded the prestigious Gerald F. Gillanders Student of the Year Award for 2026. Now in its 41st year, this distinguished award recognises students who exemplify leadership, commitment, and dedication within the Our Lady’s school community.

The award ceremony, held on May 13th, was attended by students, staff, and members of the Board of Management. It commemorates Mr. Gillanders, who served as Deputy Principal of Our Lady’s until his untimely passing in 1984.

During the event, Principal Mr. Eddie Kelly congratulated Annie on her outstanding contribution to school life and praised her commitment throughout her time at Our Lady’s. “Annie has made an exceptional contribution to our school community over the past six years,” Mr. Kelly said. “Annie has been actively involved in a wide range of extra curricular activities while maintaining high levels of academic success and always leading with kindness, humility and empathy.  Annie has been a wonderful role model for younger students and has consistently demonstrated leadership, respect and a strong sense of appreciation for the many opportunities and experiences she received. We are extremely proud of all she has achieved, and we wish her every success in the future.”

Mr. Kelly also acknowledged the other nominees, thanking them for their significant contributions to the school community during their time at Our Lady’s. He expressed his pride in the entire Leaving Certificate Class of 2026 as they prepare for the next stage of their journeys.
